It reads like a bad back translation from a foreign language. Gender of pronouns is frequently reversed, and there are word substitutions that make no sense, such as “vacationer” for “cottager.” ( Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2021 )

I don't believe it was the sellers fault, but it is for one of my spring semester classes, which started two months ago. Thankfully my class doesn't need the book till 2 more weeks. I won't give any spoilers, but you will come to find a very different Victor Frankenstein, and a very different monster. I plan to read it again soon. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Holly -- I read the 1831 version and absolutely loved it. : The Barnes and Noble edition I read has a print date of 2003. That may have no relevance, whatsoever. I really liked and appreciated the history of Mary Shelley (and her family and cohorts) presented and the introduction by Karen Karbiener. They, both, added so much, for me, to the story. The end notes were an added plus, as well. I may seek out the earlier (original) version, but I truly adored this version. Quite beautiful and sorrowful, equally.
